The First Of Omega's New Speedmaster Moonwatch Bi-Color Models Just Landed At Korman

The New Omega Moonwatch and Ambassador Barry Keoghan

The first watch on the moon continues to be spotted among the stars, as Omega launched a new Speedmaster Moonwatch Bi-Color model on the wrist of Academy Award-winning actor Barry Keoghan earlier this week. Maybe it’s all the espresso, but Keoghan is working late as Omega’s latest ambassador.

The History of the Omega Moonwatch 1965-2024

The Speedmaster Moonwatch's ground-breaking journey began in 1965 when it was selected by NASA for all manned space missions. After passing a series of grueling tests evaluating its performance under extreme conditions—temperature, pressure, humidity, shock, and vibration—the Speedmaster made history as the only watch to meet NASA's rigorous requirements. In 1969, the Moonwatch officially became the first watch on the moon. Since then, it has been worn for all six lunar landings to date.

Two-Tone: The New Bi-Color Moonwatch Collection

As if this watch wasn’t already turning heads, Omega has launched two new stunning models: a Moonshine Gold and stainless steel version, and a Sedna Gold and stainless steel version. Both models feature Omega's proprietary gold alloys, known for their striking unique hues.

  • The Moonshine Gold Bi-Color Moonwatch: This version boasts a silver dial with yellow gold sub-dials, creating a sophisticated and luxurious contrast. Moonshine Gold, an 18k yellow gold alloy developed by Omega, has a paler hue compared to traditional gold, lending the watch a distinctive and refined appearance.

  • The Sedna Gold Bi-Color Moonwatch: This model features a salmon dial complemented by contrasting black sub-dials, creating a “Panda” look. Sedna Gold, with its rich red tone, is another of Omega’s 18k gold alloys with increased copper content, giving it a warm red tone unlike any other.

Both models are $18,100 and measure 42mm in diameter.

The Movement

The Omega Calibre 3861, is at the heart of these timepieces. A manual-winding chronograph movement with a Co-Axial escapement, this movement is a Certified Master Chronometer, approved by METAS, and offers resistance to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. With a power reserve of 50 hours, a rhodium-plated finish, and bridges adorned with straight Geneva waves, the Calibre 3861 is as reliable as it is beautiful. The movement is showcased through a clear crystal case-back, allowing its intricate craftsmanship to be displayed.
