As a seasoned watch specialist, I've seen my fair share of timepieces, each with its own unique character and sophistication. Trilobe, our newest timepiece partner, is a brand that truly stands out from the crowd. With its revolutionary design, Trilobe redefines watchmaking. And let me tell you, experiencing Trilobe watches is nothing short of captivating.
These French timepieces have gained attention in the last few years for their innovative approach to timekeeping. Unlike traditional watches with hands, Trilobe timepieces feature three rotating discs to indicate the hours, minutes, and seconds. This unique design sets Trilobe apart, seamlessly blending modern elements with the traditional timepiece staple. Reminiscent of a futuristic artifact from another world, Trilobe's packaging is an extension of its ethos to challenge the norm.
Trilobe's X-Centric Caliber
Drawing upon his expertise and experiences in the luxury goods industry, founder Gautier Massonneau identified an opportunity to introduce a fresh perspective to watch design. This vision led to the conception of Trilobe in 2018. Each Trilobe timepiece is meticulously crafted, reflecting a deep commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail. Trilobe's watches boast a remarkable self-winding movement known as the X-Centric caliber, engineered to accommodate the relatively massive weight of the rotating rings, the X-Centric caliber delivers impressive torque at a rate of 4 Hz, ensuring optimal performance. What truly distinguishes this movement is its intricate architecture, featuring vertically aligned gear trains that offer a rare level of symmetry and sophistication. The inclusion of a thick micro-rotor made of heavy tungsten enhances winding efficiency, while the micro-blasted and electro-plated bridges and plates provide a matte, dark finish that exudes contemporary elegance.
Recently, I had the pleasure of experiencing two exquisite timepieces from Trilobe's collection. The Trilobe Nuit Fantastique Grained Green Titanium, and the Blue Dial Titanium Une Folle Journee. The Nuit Fantastique boasts sleek sophistication with its traditional flat sapphire crystal and smaller rings that create an appealing negative space, accentuating its captivating green dial. In contrast, the Une Folle Journee embraces a futuristic aesthetic with an extra-domed crystal and large rings that fill the dial, paying homage to Trilobe's first editions. Both share Trilobe's unique three-ring timekeeping design but diverge in their approach to aesthetics, with the Nuit Fantastique offering a more traditional understated luxury and the Une Folle Journee making a bold statement.
