Korman has the heirloom-quality pieces to mark your special occasion or elevate the everyday. Family, locally and longhorn owned for 50 years, Korman has made its mark on the Austin community. Before providing the vast selection that Korman is known for, founder Russell 'Rusty' Korman began what he thought would merely be a hobby throughout his time at The University of Texas. With a fascination for African beads, Rusty began selling strands on the Drag.
Little did he know that his second-hand quilt would foreshadow the jewelry cases that were to come. In 1973, After earning $40,000, Rusty realized that this could become his career. He began selling to his competitors, saving to open his first storefront in Dobie Mall. From there, he relocated several times before settling at 38th and Lamar, where Korman would remain for 22 years.
With an in-house jeweler and watchmaker, and a growing inventory of Swiss timepieces, Rusty caught the attention of many partners you can still find at Korman. Offering designer fine jewelry and partnering with Rolex in 2011, Korman began to transform into the premier jewelry store that Austin was missing. Relocating to Korman's current location on Burnet Road in 2013, he continued to build his clientele through personal letters, exemplary customer service and values of integrity, humility and respect that remains pillars today.
In 2018, Rusty and his partners sold the business to Kat and Larry Stokes. With a rich background in jewelry, shared values and a passion for the community, Rusty was ready to pass the torch. With personal quest for finding joy in every day, it was no surprise that the mantra of his business would become "Celebrate Every Day". Maintaining the name "Korman", the Stokes continued to build on the values their business was founded on.These practices led them to partner with like-minded organizations in the community and industry. A proud partner of Austin FC and the only destination for the official University of Texas longhorn jewelry, Korman celebrates with the Austin community beyond its walls.
Korman continues to expand its offering of unique and wearable pieces that resonate with Austin luxury, from designers such as Messika, Single Stone, Roberto Coin, and more. In addition to a global network of diamond distributors and sight holders, the Stokes are able to eliminate the middle-man to offer the finest diamonds at the most reasonable prices. Each diamond goes through a scrupulous selection process, ensuring superlative characteristics. Today, Korman is where Austin gets engaged and where any diamond dream can come true. A certified Rolex service center with master watchmakers, skilled jewelers and knowledgeable staff with a passion for celebrating every day, Korman continues to sparkle year after year.
Opening summer of 2024, Korman's new flagship location will be located on 29th and Lamar. Designed in collaboration with Architect Michael Hsu, the new location will be just under 11,000 sq ft, giving the Korman team a bright and beautiful space to continue serving their clients. Drawing inspiration from Pemberton's luxury architecture and heritage trees that surround the new location, the new space is both timeless and contemporary. Remaining in the same neighborhood in which their story began 50 year ago, Korman will continue to Celebrate Ever Day for the next 50 and beyond.
